Description:This course is comprehensive training for Forklift Operators. The students will learn engineering principles, operator safety rules and regulations, an overview of the OSHA Standard for Powered Industrial Trucks, proper pre-operational equipment inspection techniques, Load composition and stability, causes of forklift accidents, uses and limitations of forklifts, responsibilities associated with safe operation and much more.

In-Field Operator Evaluation

Each person attending this course is required to be evaluated during in-field operation of each type of forklift they are to be qualified on. Depending on Forklifts and application, evaluations take approximately 10-15 minutes per operator per type of forklift. This evaluation is site-specific and an addition cost will be assessed.

Course Objectives

Students should be able to:
1. Understand proper operational techniques.
2. Be familiar with and have knowledge with the general requirements of the OSHA Powered Industrial Truck standard.
3. Understand the hazards associated with Operating Forklifts.
4. Understand the different uses types, designs and classifications of forklifts and understand their limitations.
5. Pass a written exam with 80% or better.
6. Pass an In-Field Operator safety and proficiency evaluation.
